If you’ve got a Pixel phone and just updated to Android 16, there’s a good chance everything’s running fine. But not for everyone. Some Pixel owners are now reporting a bug that impacts the navigation, whether it’s gestures or buttons, is completely broken after the Android 16 update.

Complaints are piling up across Reddit and X, with Pixel owners saying their phones are acting weird. Gestures are getting stuck. Buttons don’t respond. Sometimes both systems lag for several seconds—or worse, over 30 seconds—before finally catching up.

This Pixel Android 16 bug seems to hit at random. For some users, everything works as expected. But for others, navigating through apps and menus has become a frustrating mess. The issue affects both the swipe gesture system and the classic three-button layout, which means switching modes doesn’t help either.

It’s not just a minor delay. People are saying the phone will freeze mid-gesture or ignore button presses entirely. And it’s not happening once in a while—it’s a regular, daily occurrence for those affected.

Google hasn’t officially acknowledged the bug yet, but with the number of reports growing, a hotfix seems likely. If you’re one of the unlucky ones dealing with this, try filing a bug report through your Pixel’s Settings menu under System > Feedback. The more reports they get, the faster we might see a fix.

Until then, Android 16 might be more of a headache than an upgrade for some Pixel users.
