Earlier this summer, IGN broke the news that the wildly popular web series Murder Drones is making the jump to comics, with Oni Press releasing a graphic novel adaptation of the first season. Now that the Kickstarter campaign for the graphic novel has launched, we can debut new cover artwork of the various editions featured in the campaign.
Check out the slideshow gallery below for a closer look at the Murder Drones graphic novel:
Murder Drones is a collaboration between Oni and animation studio Glitch Productions. The graphic novel is written by Wyatt Kennedy (Nights, Marvel United) and drawn by Jo Mi-Gyeong (Eve, Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance). The Kickstarter campaign features an exclusive hardcover edition with cover art by Alessio Zonno (I Heart Skullcrusher!) and an exclusive softcover edition with cover art by Mi-Gyeong.
Backers will find plenty of exclusive goodies in the Kickstarter campaign, including a series of variant covers that pay homage to classic horror films like Carrie, Nightmare on Elm Street, and The Thing. There are also several higher-tier bundles worth pointing out:
The "Disassembly Drone" set includes a Camp 98.7 Trucker Hat, a Murder Drones #1 variant printed on brushed aluminum, an 18"x24" print that recreates Uzi's conspiracy theory diagram from Episode 3, and an exclusive cover by Andy Duggan (Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories). The "Absolute Solver" set features a “Cabin Fever” scented candle, a Murder Drones work jacket, a full set of comic covers, an 8"x10" black-and-white character sketch by Brenda Hickey (My Little Pony), and an exclusive cover by Moss Lawton (Star Trek: Prodigy).
But for the really hardcore fans, there's the extremely limited "High Temp" set. This set comes with a VHS tape of Episode 1, a custom variant cover featuring the backer's first name, a 1:1 lithograph print of Mi-Gyeong's artwork, and exclusive cover art by Andy Duggan (Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories).

“Murder Drones is a heartwarming 'destroy all humans' story that combines jaw-dropping art with an immersive mythology, a hefty dose of hilarious characters, action, horror, giant laser guns, and lots of robots being destroyed,” said Oni Press President & Publisher Hunter Gorinson in a statement. “It was absolutely imperative for us to find a writer and artist who could bring the show’s transgressive storytelling to the comics medium with verve and style. Murder Drones fans will be blown away by what Wyatt Kennedy and Jo Mi-Gyeong are doing with Murder Drones: The Official Graphic Novel. And comic fans who have yet to watch the show, but who love Invader Zim, Rick and Morty and Cult of the Lamb, will discover a darkly fascinating and addictive story, with loads of snark and suspense and characters that will live on in your head.”
The Kickstarter campaign for Murder Drones is live now.
